Past Chapter Programs

For 96 years, Rho Chapter has served Columbia University and the greater Harlem community through its unique chapter programming. The chapter also collaborates with university student groups, alumni chapters, and outside organizations in programming that reflects the organization's Five Point Programmatic Thrust. Some of Rho Chapter's traditional programs include:

Adaoha C. Hamilton Scholarship and Fundraiser – The Adaoha C. Hamilton Scholarship Luncheon is a Rho Chapter tradition that honors the spirit of our chapter Soror Adaoha C. Hamilton with food, fellowship, and performances. The luncheon takes place in the spring, and during this event,  a high school senior who has demonstrated leadership and excellence in the arts is awarded a $1,000 scholarship to put toward her college education in the following academic year. A time for celebration, the Adaoha C. Hamilton Scholarship reception has created a lasting impression on all attendees.

College Credit Clinic –  Another Rho Chapter institution, the College Credit Clinic addresses the need for college students to be fiscally savvy as they move on in their stages of financial independence. During the clinic, banking professionals answer questions and walk through the following topics: keeping good banking practices, learn the importance of 401K’s, savings, and budgeting based on different levels of income.

Delta Down Home Dinner – A Rho Chapter institution that brings the campus community together for food, music, and fellowship! Come hungry, leave with your soul and stomach satisfied!

Delta Week/Social Action Week –  Each fall, Rho Chapter ushers in the new academic year with a weeklong set of programming that aim to make students charged and fired up about social action!  Through the various programs, the chapter works to understand some of the social struggles in the current world and help to celebrate the triumphs over such injustices.

State of Black Womanhood Week –  During our State of Black Womanhood Week, Rho Chapter tackles issues confronting the black woman in today's world. Programming often spans health, social, and racial issues and all the intersections therein. Look out for our week during the spring semester!

World AIDS Day Luncheon – The World AIDS Day Luncheon aims to spread awareness of AIDS as a relevant and pertinent disease affecting communities within the African Diaspora. The event consist of guest speakers, performances, as well as delicious food. As a follow-up to the program, attendees get tested at our on-campus testing facility that same afternoon.
